Dear Parents and Students,
It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the 2018-2019 school year! To the new students and families, I welcome you into the Beacon Hill family.
At Beacon Hill we embrace the development of the children’s mind, body and soul. Our past computer room is now appropriately named The Zen Den. It is an active locale where teachers and students gather for yoga, meditation, robotics and group projects.
The partnership between school and home is very important. It is imperative that together we instill a passion for learning through nurturing and challenging the students academically, socially and emotionally. It is also necessary for us to encourage creativity and individuality, and to celebrate each student’s achievements.
This year we will continue to implement UDL (universal design for learning) practices into the classes and school, which will be part of our Deep Learning initiative.
Beacon Hill parents are a big part of the success of our school. We have a strong and devoted Home and School and Governing Board. I would encourage you to volunteer in whatever capacity works into your schedule, be it joining one of these two bodies, helping out in the library, taking a shift at an event, going along on a field trip or sharing your expertise with the students.
On behalf of the Beacon Hill team, I wish you a wonderful school year!
